As he cautiously traverses the room, he is suddenly bathed in light. He enters a large hanger surrounded by darkness. The scene opens with Dragunov sneaking around a military complex. It wouldn't make sense to try to fuck over a guy like Harada with how involved he is with the community as well (he literally played in the tournament) and how that would affect their relationship with companies who do reveals at Evo in the first place It was a bad idea but it certainly wasn't malicious or had any bad intentions behind it (beyond using Hayter's voice which wasn't very smart). Hell for snake he's literally in the main game of the night. Really at gaming events (might as well be a convention/festival) it's not uncommon to see a bunch of references to various games and in this case they were doing interludes and stuff all night. The intention wasn't supposed to be a fake tease for a guest character it was just a very poorly timed and executed interlude which included a reference to a FGC meme, the presentation ended up making people think it was an accidental showing of a guest character (the hushed nature, seemingly cutting it off early no real mention of it, etc.) And since no one would have looked bad if the act was never undertaken, it looks even worse on the creators of the problem. Someone ends up looking dirty in the eyes of the customers who thought it was more than it was. Releasing it at a fighting tournament, where there are games that have snake as a fighting character (Smash) makes it really fucking confusing as to the point of the exercise.Īnd potentially could be seen as stirring a pot of customers to provide pressure on the IP holder to put the character in said game. Then there’s probably little risk of brand confusion. If sold snake pops on radio trying to get you to hire a plumbing service. Even less so in a scenario that is going to cause confusion as to whether there is an official support or not.
